Women Chefs & Restaurateurs Calls on Diners to “Unite for a Bite” and Support Aspiring Women Chefs by Dining Out on August 13
On Thursday, August 13th, Women Chefs & Restaurateurs (WCR) is pleased to host the second annual “Unite for a Bite” a national campaign designed to support women in the culinary arts. During “Unite for a Bite,” diners are called to visit participating restaurants, who will donate 5% of their food and beverage sales on August 13th to support WCR’s scholarship and educational programs fostering growth of women in the culinary world. This initiative, spearheaded by WCR President-elect and Washington, DC-based Chef/Owner Jamie Leeds, supports the mission of WCR to promote and enhance the education, advancement and connection of women in the culinary arts.
Chefs and participating restaurants recognizing “Unite for a Bite” will celebrate in personal ways by featuring tempting specials inspired by a favorite dish that influenced their culinary path or was created by an admired colleague or famous culinary role model. Restaurants may also invite high profile women in their community to visit, and feature female winemakers, farmers and artisans. Guests will be pleased to know that by dining at a participating restaurants on August, 13th they are ensuring young women will have the support and encouragement needed to start a career in this exciting, competitive culinary field.
